Vox-L:

"Vox" is an adventure and creative game that adopts a voxel and block-based aesthetic. It places a strong emphasis on player-generated content, granting players the ability to customize every aspect of the game.

Players have the freedom to craft their unique characters, weapons, items, monsters, NPCs (non-playable characters), and virtually anything else within the game world. Because all elements in the game are composed of voxels, they can be modified and personalized through the same user-friendly interface. The game incorporates editors and tools for crafting voxel objects and sprites directly into its gameplay, setting it apart from other voxel-based games that only permit alterations to the voxel environment itself.

One of Vox's standout features is its dynamic world, teeming with interactive elements such as monsters, NPC villages, and an envisioned full-fledged storyline and adventure mode. This mode would have included a dynamic quest system to enrich the player's experience.

Vox's origins trace back to its participation in the Ludum Dare #23 competition, initially known as "When Worlds Collide." During this competition, the source code and a game prototype were made available for download. The foundational voxel engine technology was developed over a two-day period during the Ludum Dare Weekend. Subsequently, the game's development progress was openly documented on a website titled "Let's make a voxel engine."

Development:

The development of Vox follows an incremental release model, with new features and elements gradually introduced through updates. The latest publicly available demo version, distributed via IndieDB, is labeled as v0.28.

The game made its commercial debut on the digital distribution platform Desura on September 8, 2012, as a playable Pre-alpha release version. In June 2013, Vox became available on the Humble Store. On November 12, 2013, it successfully received "Early access" status on Steam Greenlight, marking its entry into the Steam gaming community.
